Strategic Abilities are abilities that affect only the strategic map.

Strategic Actives[edit | edit source]

Ability: Build a Fortress Cost: 100 Gold
Type: Active Subtype: Strategic Duration: 1 Turn
Build a Fortress.png Constructs a Wooden Fortress at the designated location.
  • It can afterwards be upgraded to a Stone Fortress for 120 Gold and 2 Turn. If a city is built over a Fortress being upgraded, the upgrade is cancelled (the city will have Wooden Walls) and the gold is refunded.

Constructs a bridge over a Water hex.

  • The following conditions need to be met:
    • Unit has enough Movement Movement to Embarked.png Embark
    • Water is no more than 1 hex wide
    • Neither side has Mountains or Cavern Walls
    • Basic Seafaring.png Basic Seafaring is researched
  • This takes all the remaining Movement Movement points
  • It costs 60 Gold

Found City.png Constructs a City at the designated location.
  • If the location contains a City Ruin, that city is rebuild instead, though of the same race as the settler.
  • Rebuilding a city is an act of Good (150 Good Alignment), and restores 50% of it's original Population Population and and salvageable buildings that the city might have had.
  • Either option consumes the Settler unit.
Ability: Last Rite of Winter Strength: 3 Hex Radius
Type: Strategic Subtype: Terraforming
Last Rite of Winter.png Turns all terrain withing 3 hexes to Arctic. This unit will die.

  • Does not work underground

  • Does not work underground

Path of Life.png The unit transforms the Terrain into Temperate Dense Vegetation when moving over it.
  • Does not work underground

If the unit has no Forestry.png Forestry, it still requires 6 Movement to move to a Dense Vegetation hex.

  • This will generate small amounts of Gold Gold

Tunneling.png Unit can dig through Dirt Cavern Walls, turning them to Barrens.
  • This generates 3-5 Gold per hex.
