Fury of the Ancients is the sixth and final chapter (Elven Court path) of The Elven Court campaign in Age of Wonders 3.
Prelude[]
"Emperor Leonus and his loyal generals scramble to prepare for our surprise attack. They had ordered vast armies to take back Kaerunn Province. They can have it, it's empty. The full force of the Elven Court and its allies moved through secret teleportation gates directly to the Commonwealth capital, Stronghelm City. The final assault can begin."- Sundren of House Inioch
Introduction[]
The Calm before the Storn[]
Today is a great day. Just beyond a small circle of mountains Emperor Leonus rallies any available forces around his precious capital.
My Father, King of the High Elves, has brought the might of his ancient sorcery to bear, ready to strike at the heart of the enemy. My Mother stands beside him as his Queen, rallying the forces of nature against this empire of machines. Her eyes are hollow for all her tears, but I convinced her to join us to see that we do not utterly exterminate the few innocent human peasants we find.
As a token of his trust in me, Father has honored me with primary leadership of the Elven Court armies. I will sound the trump of war. Mine will be the first and last sword to draw blood.
Those of lesser character recoil from what needs to be done, but the day of grace is past. The Commonwealth has failed its people. For the whole word to heal, the High Elves must cut out this festering wound called Humanity. The few that survive here will learn to live in chains.

Outro[]
Ancient Birthright Reclaimed[]
The Commonwealth is no more. The world has been restored to its rightful rulers. We are unified. The nightmare of our past sins is behind us. The High Elves are finally freed from their tragic past.
Emperor Leonus's remains are entombed in the ruins of Stronghelm City as a warning to any that think to stand against the rightful rulers of this world again. Like all mortals, his life was shorter than he planned. Though I suspect my Father would want every human's life shortened immediately, my Mother has seen that those that surrendered are nourished and re-educated in the ways of their new masters. Their armies flee to holes in the rocks, hiding from a vengeance that is many millenia overdue. My armies crush anything that raises its sword in defense.
It is brutal work, but necessary.
The final work is for the crows. Worms will congregate among ruins of bone, and the moldering children of the Garden feed the blood-watered grasses of this battlefield.
Celebrations of Victory[]
Humanity's time is over, and those that remain will be controlled. The cowering flocks of slaves remaining will be distributed among the most valiant of the Elven Court. Let them choose mercy or justice, I am done with them.
I will have to watch the spread of power carefully, but I am confident in my network of spies. I have instructed them to detain any who harbor signs of sedition, Shadowborn or otherwise. Perfect, unyielding allegiance to my Father is the only acceptable attitude--all other thoughts lead to destruction. If I have to, I'll hold public trials and remind the people of the constant threat of terror that comes when they trust their neighbors more than their ruler.
My Father is proud and my Mother stands tall by his side, but there is something missing. Her eyes search the horizon sadly, as if an old friend were suddenly taken from her. Nevertheless, we are a royal family once more. We will create the perfect society. Now commences the Age of Wonders.
The End[]
Years have passed since last I wrote. I forgot about this book...of foolish dreams. Peace? Prosperity? It was all Lies.
Was there a time I might've made different choices and avoided this grim fate? There was a stranger who warned me, when I first discovered the Shadowborn, but I ignored him. I wanted to please my father. I wanted revenge for my brother's death.
The High Elves are nearly gone now. We tried to stand, but we fought alone. None of the remaining races trusted us, not after what we did to Humanity.
I never suspected it when I first wrote this journal, but we needed what we ruined. We needed a Commonwealth.
I thought they were our worst enemy, but they were nothing. Every casualty becomes their soldier. Terrible things lurk in the shadows. The people hide in terror. They say the ancient Wizards have returned more fearsome than ever.
It was Werlac of course. He waited with perfect patience, pursuing a plot laid out before my birth. I thought I could use the Shadowborn, but they used me. They crave this oblivion. I never suspected how they used the shrines to deaden the people's hearts.
They march on Sylvanus itself. There are no hiding places left.
My father and mother disappeared years ago. I am all that's left, Queen of the High Elves, leader of the last living Empire.
Storyline Walkthrough[]
Saridas: "This is it, Sundren! The future of the world depends on this battle! We must defeat Leonus and his generals. As well as our own forces I have secretly enlisted the aid of Xorn, a trustworthy mercenary Lord, whose Orcs will fight with us. The Elven Court shows its full might today, and victory shall be ours!"
Sundren: "I will not let you down, father! With the combined power of our armies the Commonwealth doesn't stand a chance!"

After the player captures the first enemy city, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "Leonus's first city has fallen! The Commonwealth's armies are overwhelming, but we'll be victorious if we stay sharp and take them down one city at a time!"
When the player enters the domain of Ygendale City, a dialogue will trigger:
Leonus: "You foul Elves, you have no right! You intend to suppress us all, keep us caged. We shall free Athla from your oppression once and for all!"
When the player finds the northern teleporter near Ygendale City, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "This teleporter pad doesn't seem to be functioning properly. It doesn't look broken however, maybe there is something blocking it in one of the nearby cities."
Once the player captures the city whose territory is influencing the northern teleporter pad, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "There's a device in this city stopping the teleporter pad from functioning. Deactivating it should make the teleporter functional again."
When the player gets near a teleporter located between Jagaresse and Jerritok, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "There's a teleporter hidden here. It remains *inacitve, despite our efforts. I wonder where it leads...?" (Note: inacitve is mispelled in game. It is actually "inactive")
Find the teleporter's destination[]
- Time: No time limit
- Difficulty: Medium
"I should find out where this teleporter leads, and see if I can activate it. It should be quite helpful."
Once the player enters Yzzo's territory, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "Yzzo, you'll pay for what you did to my brother! I know his death was your doing!"
Yzzo: "I'll pay? Your pathetic Elven Court failed to stop me last time. What makes you think this time will be any different?"
Once the player nears the territory of Baradir the Bald, a dialogue will trigger:
Leonus: "You think yourselves so superior, don't you? And yet you have never realized the power of machines. I will show you what a grave mistake this was! My machines will roll over your armies and flatten your precious trees, mark my words!"
Once the player interacts with the Reflecting Pool near Leonus's Throne City, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "So this is Stronghelm. I can't believe my eyes..."
Saridas: "Let's press on Sundren. I met your mother here during the Shadow Wars; this won't be the first time Stronghelm is conquered by Elves, but it will be the last!"
Once the player defeats Yzoo, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "That's the last of Yzzo...
Thannis... I miss you. At least your killer has been punished. That rat deserved far worse for his horrible, cowardly deed!"
Once the player defeats Leonus, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "Leonus's reign ends here! This is truly a great day for the Elven Court. This marks the end of Human dominance and heralds the return of the High Elves to their intended place: the guardians of Athla. We will bring balance and peace. Rejoice!"
Once the player defeats Baradir, a dialogue will trigger:
Saridas: "Baradir has fallen! Taking away his military might and strategic insight will doubtlessly weaken the Commonwealth's power."
Once the player defeats Brenn, a dialogue will trigger:
Julia: "Grimdotter falls to our might. It seems her dark preaching couldn't save her from her fate. None can withstand the High Elf army and its allies."
When the player nears the Rigilin Fortress that protects a teleporter on the east, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "There's an army guarding the teleporter, no doubt to stop us from using it!"
Unblock the teleporter[]
- Time: No turn limit
- Difficulty: Medium
"This teleporter could give us a great advantage, but something seems to be blocking it. We should try to restore it!"
One the army protecting the teleporter has been defeated, a dialogue will trigger (this will finishe the "Unblock the teleporter" quest):
We destroyed the army: "With that army gone we should now be able to use the teleporter."
When the player nears a teleporter next to Vasseruin City, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "This teleporter must be how Leonus was able to mobilize his armies so quickly!"
This teleporter leads to the one near Rigilin.
If the player interacts with the teleporter to the very bottom right of Vrok City, a dialogue will trigger (this will complete the "Find the teleporter's destination" quest):
Sundren: "This teleporter pad has sunk into the swamp, there's no way it'll work like this! Maybe itfunction again if we dig it up."
Sundren: "We dug up the pad. It should be working now."
If the player nears the teleporter between two mountains at their base, a dialogue will trigger:
Sundren: "This must be the teleporter connected to the pad I found in Leonus's city!"
This teleporter leads to the one at Issenvar City.
